A Dog's Eye View

From On Point with Tom Ashbrook - wbur.org
There are about 75 million dogs in the United States. We love them, feed them, walk them, groom them. But cognitive psychologist Alexandra Horowitz is not so sure we understand them.
They’re not simple humans. They’re not friendly wolves. Dogs are highly evolved for compatibility with homo sapiens.
But the way they sense the world is vastly different from our own. These “creature of the nose,” she says, can actually smell time. And when they do see, they see more of the world in every second. Think about that.

FPP Dog walk - Cold Nose Photos!
We did not attend the FPP dog walk last week because of the rain and the 3 hour round trip drive time, but thanks to Stacey from Cold Nose Photos, I have the following photos of the event to share. Her photos of dogs are amazing. Please check out her webpage which I have included in my list of links. You won't be disappointed. Stacey is a Cape Cod based photographer who combines her passion for animals with her love of New England. Enjoy.

I did not see any pictures of Madison's siblings among her photo archive. Here are some additional photos of Stacey's that were not from the FPP dog walk, but that I wanted to share.

Happy Fourth of July
Finally some sun to enjoy over the long holiday weekend. What a relief since the dogs were going a bit stir crazy inside this past June with all the rain. We had muddy footprints all throughout the house for the entire month!
We spent some time this weekend playing with the girls outside. This means frisbee for Madison and Agility for Stella. Or their new favorite game - chipmunk stalking. Our back yard is over run this year!

Backyard Agility
We took a break from mulching this afternoon to practice some agility obstacles with Madison and Stella. Madison preferred to play fetch but did manage to run through the tunnel a few times after the tennis ball! We worked with Stella on her start line wait and driving her through the tunnel toward the tire. Everyone had a great time despite the fact that we ran out of mulch.
